The biggest EXFIL® bags we've made yet! Our first full-sized saddlebag system is the last word in utility and performance for motorcycle adventure. EXFIL-36 saddlebags feature hand-crafted construction and ballistic-grade materials—everything from heavy-duty polyester nylon and PVC-treated synthetics to heat-resistant canvas, nylon MOLLE straps, and molded quick-release buckles. Each hand-crafted bag’s main compartment will hold 36 12-ounce cans. That’s three cases for the pair—plenty of capacity for your next long-term bugout. Who says you can’t take it with you? These saddlebags are big enough for just about any motorcycle adventure. Multiple pockets inside, a fleece-lined easy-access one on the outside and plenty of MOLLE and tie-down loops to attach extra gear to the outside makes the EXFIL-36 saddlebags unique. These bags are universal-fit, but keep in mind you’ll need to add some generic saddlebag mounts for your particular bike to keep the bags away from your rear wheel. As with most saddlebags, relocating the turn signals will help keep the bags tucked in and tidy. Installation note: Motorcycle exhaust is super hot! If your exhaust exits directly into or under these bags, even though the bottoms are reinforced with heat-resistant material, there is a chance it can scorch the bag or melt the contents inside. Rain covers melt or catch fire easier than the ballistic nylon due to the rubber coating that makes them waterproof, so please keep that in mind. Also, if you install the bags empty, check them again after you’ve loaded them with gear. You may need to adjust the yoke or other parts of your mounting procedure to keep the bags away from exhaust heat. It’s a good idea to check all luggage every time you stop, just to make sure things haven’t shifted while you were riding.

CHOOSING A SET OF UNIVERSAL SADDLEBAGS

“Universal” or “throw over” saddlebags are designed to fit almost every motorcycle.  They use a ‘yoke’ which sits over the rear fender to form the ‘throw over’ installation.  This yoke generally sits under the passenger seat and is often detachable from the bags so you don’t need to remove the seat to remove the bags.

The size of the saddlebags not only determines how much gear you can carry, but also which size is suitable for your bike.  We don't know the exact measurements of every bike, but there are areas you can measure to decide which size will work for you.

1. The general rule is to measure from your exhaust to between the fender rail and the top of the fender to make sure you have clearance from the exhaust.  This will determine your maximum height.  Don’t forget to allow for suspension travel, loaded bags and general movement.  The yoke is generally adjustable to shorten up the amount of hang, so there might be a small amount of adjustment here.     
2. Measure from your turn signals towards the rear of the drivers seat to determine your maximum length.  Don't cramp your seating position.  In some cases you may need to relocate your turn signals and there are often kits available to make this easier.
3. Depth is the measurement of the bag that determines the overall width of your bike.  This is the one measurement that has more to do with style, look and practicality than absolute measurements. 

The dimensions of each set of saddlebags are in the "specs" area towards the bottom of the product's page.  If you measure the areas you have to work with on your bike you'll be able to compare them and choose a set of saddlebags. 

Whichever bag you choose, it's recommended that you use a saddlebag support frame as well.  This will stop the bags bouncing and swinging by supporting them and having tie off points.  There are bike specific and universal saddlebag support kits available to suit.
